Leoni - Part Two

I went exploring a little more with my virtual avatar today. Although i am getting a little frustrated as i have to level my character upto 10 to enable all the interesting things to happen and i am only on level 7, its taking me a while. but i was quite amused at the fact of them having killer rabbits (above) it kinda reminded me of the film Donnie Darko, about a boy who halucinates about a killer rabbit.

Screaming Light and Colour

After days of racking my brains for a scenery for my photograph which would portray both light and colour, screaming it infact. I was sat in Mansfield bus station on my way to Uni Tuesday morning waiting for my bus and i happened to notice how bright the busses were, the colour of them, i already happen to think that orange is one of the most vibrant and noticable colours. I also noticed that light from the daylight sky (obviously) was shining down on the buses and also that the buses had their lights on. So i decided to take a photograph of this scene as i think that it portrays bright and vibrant colour which are in your face making them scream out at you and that the light shining down on the buses works. There is also a wide renge of different colours such as yellow which is a bright colour and purple in the back.

Octopus Tutorial

In our seminar on Thursday we completed a tutorial which taught us to create a squid in 3D Studio Max, ive called mine an octopus because it looks more like one. I really enjoyed this task because im finding this program pretty easy to understand, which i like. I found creating the actual octopus really easy, as well as marking the key poins the only thing that i found difficult to do was making him swim properly, knowing when the gravity wouldd make him float up for example. Other than that i am really please with my progress in 3D Studio Max.

Ball Bounce

During our Thursday seminar we were asked to create a little something in 3D Studio Max, playing around with the different features that it offers. I decided to produce a simple ball bounce, taking the idea from the basic ball bounce technique used in animation. I used a tutorial which guided me through. So today in our 3 hour break in between our lecture and tutorial today me and Hayley decided to take a shot at the task.

I used a tutorial (Creating a ball bounce)
I had already previously with the tutorial given in our seminar knew how to use key frames and the timeline to produce an animation. This tutorial taught me how to use the timeline to create the different stages of the bounce, for example as the ball goes closer to the floor, it squashes as if it was a squishy ball, it also unsquashes as it comes up from the floor. It taught me how to create the different main key frames of the ball bounce (the ball in the air to begin wit, the ball hitting the floor and the ball in the air at the end). It then taught me how to create a path from each of these key frames using the Trajectories option in the motions panel, also using the Trajectories options the tutorial told me how to edit the path, to make the bounce more of a bounce, using key frames.

I found 3D Studio Max a lot easier to use than the program i had previously used for 3D animation, Lightwave.

Leoni - Part One

I have now downloaded seal online and have begun to develop my character, i have chosen my character to be a mage because they are intelligent and wise also a mage is a powerful magic user, able to control the elements, earth, air, fire and water. I have named my character the same name as i had on second life (lioni) as this is a nickname of mine and i really like the name.

To the right is a screengrab of my character in the game, at this stage i hadn't learned any skills although i had gain some items that would come in useful for me to sell to buy armor and clothing for my character. The clothing she is wearing are the standard ones as i am not currently skilled enough to buy clothing (although i have bought some praise items of clothing and shoes ready for when i am skilled)

The second screengrab above shows what is what on the screen, if you click on the image the white boxes tell you a short description of what is what.

Online Virtual Self

In the beginning as you can see below, i had decided to use Second Life to create my online virtual self. I have since joining it come across a few problems, such as being kicked off by an administrator. Alongside this i feel that Second Life is too bland for me, it is too realistic for myself. After speaking with my friends Hayley and Leanne, they told me about the website that they have decided to use to create their online selves, i decided to leave second life and join with Seal Online, this particular one interested me more as it wasnt too realistic and had more of a cartoonist play theme to it.

Second Life

In my second life i am called Leoni Rhiano. I chose the first name, one because it is one of my nicknames and two because i really like the name. and Rhiano is one of the standard names that you have to choose from the list provided.

In my second life, i want to be a singer/dancer and model. Main reasons is that all of these subjects interest me but i know that in real life i wouldn't have the kind of confidence needed for the jobs.

This is a snapshot of my character sitting on a throne which is placed near the place where you go to configure your appearance. She is wearing the standard clothes that come on the character aside from that i have changed the colour of her t-shirt to black. I also changed the shape of her body, her nose, neck, how her eyes look, her lips, arms, legs, bottom and feet. I have given her long brown hair as brown is my favourite colour for hair. I have also tried to make it look quite stylish by giving her a side parting and a fringe. Although she doesn't have the appearance for any of the occupations i have listed above just yet but that would take time as i need to other things, such as buy clothes.

Whilst on second life i spoke to a few people, asking them questions on how to buy clothes and one nice lass gave me a whole wardrobe full :) how nice. but the downside to this is that i cant yet show how my character looks because i got kicked off, for some reason it said that an administrator had logged me off. so ill describe in words, she's now wearing a black dress with black boots, which is a bit better than the standard clothes she was wearing but still not how i want her to look, so I've still got to do a bit of shopping around! and find out how to make some money

Something of value to me.

I have chosen to talk about my ring. This ring is extremely special to me because it is my eternity ring, given to me by my boyfriend. A bond between us silently showing that we will be together eternally. As well as it being special to me i also think that it is very visually pleasing to look at.

First of all the ring is in the shape of a wishbone, giving it an interesting shape to it, rather than having a basis round ring like most rings do, also set from the beginning of the wishbone shape to the end, is 7 diamonds, these diamonds are around just the right size for a ladies ring, them not being to small as to make the item look quite cheap, but then not being to big, as to make it difficult for a woman to wear as women tend to have more slender fingers.

The ring is gold which is one of the basic colours for jewelery aside from silver, white, gold etc..

Engraved on the inside of the ring along the bottom is 'i love you' and the o for the word love, is a diamond. This i think is a very creative feature to the item, as it is unique and effective but also gets the message across.

Overall i think that the ring is very stylish, it is small and slender, perfect for a womans finger. the diamonds look absolutely gorgeous and the little message inside the ring is very sweet.
